Our first four stories now available!

We’re excited to let you know that our first four personal stories about Institutes are available to read right now!

Gulnare was where the young son of the local teacher could walk across the small town to the local Institute. The yearly school concerts were held there.

In Brighton, Peter was introduced to the Institute Library when he won a year’s scholarship to it. His access to books, however, was short-lived.

A regular early-teens reader at Mount Gambier Institute finds a surprising view of adult life in the children’s section.

And at Warradale the local Institute was known as the Bughouse. It was a mecca on Saturday afternoon for the local kids, who would anticipate heroic scenes from the War and another adventure of a favourite hero.

Do you have a personal story to tell?

If you have personal stories to tell about an Institute, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know using the Contact Us. form on the menu and we’ll let you know how to proceed. We’re looking for stories of 200-400 words with, if possible, a photo.
